[Mix]: Frank Heise – NovaFuture Blog Mix March 2018

Frank Heise

Frank Heise is a Berlin based DJ and Producer who always tries to put some deepness in his sets and productions. But his sound is versatile and can go from drone-ambient to raw Techno tunes, trance and electro. This maybe is caused by his way to produce his own tracks with analog drum machines and a modular synth.

After a long „Vinyl-Only“-time Frank decides to go with the flow and also use digital decks in his sets. Now he started to experiment with three decks while using his beloved vinyl-records. This is the first recorded set where he used three decks to put tunes he loves together.

As a part of the Klangbiotop-Family he found his home at about-blank in Berlin an he played at parties like STAUB, ISMUS, ESCH, COLOURS and Plötzlich am Meer Festival. One of the most important dates this year will be the Instytut-Festival in Poland where he plays alongside names like Marcel Dettmann, Sigha, Dax J and many more.

[Mix]: Nic Araújo – NovaFuture Blog Mix February 2018

Nic Araújo

During the years of growing and developing a creative soul, Nic founded several bands to evolve as a songwriter, whether on the guitar, keys or drums. With an organic-instrumental background, he found his way to electronic music.

After releasing his debut EP with Shape Of Void (Berlin) in June 2016, he has played several shows all over the North of Germany and worked out a concept for his own imprint Drasma, which consistently hosts Labelnights and releases digital records.

During 2016, when he lived in Hamburg, Nic has put out records on Labels such as Robert S’ Imprint Trau-Ma, Nulectric Records, Simpelcoding and Drasma. Furthermore his second release on Shape Of Void came out late 2017 when Nic also moved to Berlin to study music and production. His sound is made up of a multitude of spherical sounds that change, blend, disappear and reappear to create an atmospherically dense sound along with hypnotic drum-arrangements.

He organized his first own event in 1993 in Menden a middle sized town with about 65.000 inhabitants where he used to go to high school as well.

He focused on breakbeat and jungle UK style heavily influenced through the London scene where he broke up a holiday and spent his complete budget in vinyl. In September 1998 he was asked by friends who run the quite new established bang! party in Oberhausen/Ruhr Area to run his own elcetronic floor on the roof top of that building. He agreed and was happy about his first residency. The party has ist 21 st anniversay in january 2018. The party is described as a multisexual event without any gender specifications – completely free to every open minded human. The electronic floor was called Hinrfick, what means brainfuck. The concept was slighlty changed by ist name but keeps the central tradition. Alongside Pete, Subjected, Mike Dehnert, Alex Bau, Claus Bachor and Edit Select just to name a few, the internatonal who is who in techno played here.

The party focusses beside the electronic floor on punk, alternative, americana, garage and dark wave, wave gothic influenced floors to be an option of a non commercial spot for open minded people who are bored by the money run boring commercial scene and was so responsible to be a teacher for a lot of people who start several other events in the area with also cool musically events like Genderterror in Mülheim, DIN-A-Queer in Münster and others. Later on he was also resident on the biggest gay party in Essen and the whole Ruhr Area where he played the closing set from 5 to 7 every month in 2004.
