[Special]: NovaFuture Blog Selection Of 2016 Releases (Part 2)

December 30, 2016

Artist (Music):
Various

Introduction:
Oooohhh. It happened again. Like every year. The recent year has passed so fast. “The same procedure as last year – the same procedure as every year” …

We discovered labels like Norite, Mechatronica, Soundscape, Voitax & Ravage.

Some new labels just started in 2016 – Second Base, Raw Imprint, Gravitational, Unequal Records, Escapism and the new Killekill’s sublabels Boidae, Vanta Series & Death By Rainbow.

Other labels continued with excellent output like Ostgut Ton, Ressort Imprint, Lanthan.Audio, Aufnahme+Wiedergabe, Modul. and many others.

But there were (actually are) some artists who are still unsigned but produce really nice stuff – eg. Background Radiation, Adam Pfeiffer or Mark Groot who got a lot of our attention and worked with us in several series releasing his own stuff via bandcamp.

Sometimes we wondered that well-known labels like Mute didn’t release so much stuff but for sure they had some nice things like On Dead Waves (Mute).

We selected some track in full stream taken from releases that got our attention. For sure it is a small selection. We had also so many others in mind but this list is already much longer than we planned it. We had to split it into two parts (check out the first one here).

[Playlist]: New Order – A Small Selection Of Tracks

November 9, 2015

Artist (Music):
New Order

Introduction:
This is a special about New Order – the legendary Manchester band formed in 1980 by Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook & Stephen Morris after the tragic death of Ian Curtis and the end of Joy Division.

New Order combine(d) post-punk and synth-pop but also other electronic dance music like Acid House. So they got an important part of the British music scene of the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s.

They had several hits like “Bizzare Love Triangle”, “True Faith” and the club hit “Blue Monday”/”Blue Monday 88” which is still part of some DJ sets.

After Hooky’s abandoning New Order consists of Bernard Sumner, Gillian Gilbert, Stephen Morris, Tom Chapman and Phil Cunningham nowadays.

A few weeks ago New Order released a new album called “Music Complete” on the legendary indepedent label Mute and in a few days (11th November 2015) they will play a concert in Berlin so we want to celebrate it with this selection. This is also a start for a new feature – we will present you some playlist that we will put together for special topics.

Enjoy our small playlist …

[Playlist]: Third Mute Sampler compiled by NovaFuture

August 28, 2015

Info:
As you surely know our absolute favourite label is Mute, founded in 1978 by the legendary Daniel Miller.

But Mute is not only a label, it also has a publishing company which is called Mute Song.

Many artists that release(d) on the label are also signed to the publisher like Luke Slater, Plastikman, Land Observations, Recoil, but there are also writers & composer (that the people who have a contract with a publishing company) that record for other labels or are “only” composer & writers. So also artists like Underworld, Max Richter, Venetian Snares, Rex The Dog, Peter Gregson etc. are part of Mute Song‘s roster.

To show you some musicians of the diversity that signed to MS, we created another playlist of tracks we love.

So enjoy!

[Playlist]: Second Mute Sampler compiled by NovaFuture

October 17, 2014

Info:
As you surely know our absolute favourite label is Mute, founded in 1978 by the legendary Daniel Miller.

The roster include(d) influential and important musical acts such as Depeche Mode, Erasure, Fad Gadget, Goldfrapp, Grinderman, Nitzer Ebb, Renegade Soundwave and Yazoo.

It was formed initially to release the Daniel Miller’s single “T.V.O.D.”/”Warm Leatherette” which became a underground hit.

One of Mute’s most famous act were Depeche Mode, which Daniel signed for a single after seeing them as support of Fad Gadget.

The label was always one of the pioneering labels developing and supporting new music styles. So they had a several sublabels with different genres and styles like novamute for techno and electronica, Future Groove for house music, Blast First for guitar and electronic experiments, The Fine Line for soundtracks, The Grey Area for re-issues.

Most of them are now defunct but they have a new sublabel, Liberation Technologies.

More recent acts are so different artists like Josh T. Pearson, Beth Jeans Houghton, Laibach, Erasure, VCMG, Big Deal, Zola Jesus, Liars and … just announced a few months ago New Order …. and many more

To show our love for the label we created a sampler of over 16 tracks and 90mins of newer stuff (from Mute, Mute US, sublabels). So enjoy!
